He is a truly legend if you ask the entertained citizens of the southern part of the Danish capitol Copenhagen. His name is The Platform Singer (in Danish they call him: Perron Sangeren).
The S-Train system in Copenhagen contains over 80 stations and the metro system has over 20 stations (36 stations in 2012). Almost every station has a Platform Singer hired to entertain the waiting audience. The competition is tough and the whole platform entertainment has an extremely inside controversies of power and status.

This Platform Singer is about a true star in the southern part of Copenhagen and his network of other platform singers. His name is Bobbie Baloni.
He started out on the fine Hundige Station back in the 70’s. A station which is placed 20 km south of Copenhagen, and from here he climbed all the way on the south line A & E on his career ladder towards the central stations.

Nowadays he is a big star on one of the mainhubs “Sjælør”, 3 stations and 5 min. from the central station.He started at Sjælør back in 1978. He created a special atmosphere and became madly in love Sjælør. All the highly ranked stations offered him big contracts, but Baloni refused. In 1978 the whole business was under development with professional contracts worth millions. The picture on this page was taken on “Sydhavn” station. This station is only 2 stations away from the central station! And you can easily see how he enjoys every minute at Sydhavn Station.

Today he is the executive of all Platform Singers and perform on the hectic central station “Copenhagen H”. Today Mr. Bobbie Baloni is a role model for all new Platform Singers. The great storyline of Bobbie Baloni

1969-1974: In hard training at the fine PEA (Platform Entertainment Academy). Received lessons from the legendary Platform Singer Capolino Trobiolli at the central station.

1974-1976: Got his first job at the newly build southern S-Train line at “Hundige” station (10 stations from central station). Already in 1975 the media focused on Mr. Baloni to become an upcoming legend and could end up being the King of platforms.

1976-1977: Baloni got himself promoted. He climbed 4 stations towards the central station and now performed at “Avedøre” station. He was a professional, despite the fact Avedøre at this time was an area of development. Baloni put Avedøre on the map of Copenhagen. At this day this station isn’t forgotten in the memory of the citizens of Copenhagen.

1977-1978: Baloni moved from his position because he saw an opportunity in working at a less known station called “Åmarken”. Now
Baloni was only 5 stations from his goal.
The move was a moving experience.

1978-2003: The whole business was paying well, and everything became professional like football. All stations in a radius of 4 or 5 stations away from the central were the higest ranked. Big contracts were a part of the daily life of Platfrom Singers. Baloni moved to “Sjælør” (3 stations from his main goal), but Baloni got madly in love with “Sjælør” and created an atmosphere only the central station could envy. Baloni was the highest paid Platform Singer in the business. Other stations tried to buy him off with millions, even the central offered him a leading position!
January 5th 2003 Baloni held his 25th anniversary and 800.000 visited the crowded Sjælør during that day. Then he realized he had achived the impossible and it was time to move from his “child” Sjælør.

2003-????: Bobbie Baloni got the leading Platform Singer job at the central station. He signed a contract worth 100 million Euros for a 2 years long contract!
